XML e-signature
articles,
E-signature law may take years to be
accepted.
|
The recently introduced XML e-signature
articles law will do little to change prevailing business practices
and it may be years before it is accepted by consumers and businesses,
according a report by the Warsaw Business Journal.
E-signature legislation stipulates that electronically signed
documents sent over the web have the same legal status as written
documents. Companies are beginning to slowly draft XML e-signature
articles strategies and purchase the necessary technology, called
public key infrastructure (PKI), that would allow them to comply with
the law.
XML e-signature
articles,
many Polish companies
are still deliberating over what the law means for their business.
|
We have (XML e-signature articles)
in our plans, but we are still reviewing our (options)," said a director
in Bank IT department. "We are analyzing the law and our preferences.
It's important." Furthermore it seems that is not only companies that
are deciding on strategies. The Economy Ministry in Poland is currently
deciding which company would be the "root
certification authority," an entity that verifies and certifies the
identity of the person who sends a document that includes an XML
e-signature articles and its software.
Digital
signature creation uses a hash result derived from and unique to
both the signed message and a given private key. For the hash result to
be secure, there must be only a negligible possibility that the same
XML e-signature articles could be created by the combination of any
other message or private key.
