Most of the times, people not familiar with PKI technology (Digital
Signature Software), confuse digital signature with electronic
signature, which is a super set which includes digital signature in

Authentication process
using the Infomosaic Secure XML Software loaded on the receiving
computer:

Step1- Digital Signature Software, The receiver can open the file
or email sent by the sender. The receiver can read the document and
observe the 'hand written' signature if one was included.
Step 2- The Secure XML Software (on the receiving computer) will use the
Public Key it received (appended to the document and signature) from the
sender to decipher the Electronic Signature appended to the sent
document, authenticate your Electronic Signature and extract (from the
signature) the Digest of the sent document. Since the public key of the
sender was used to verify the signature, the document must have been
signed with the private key known only by the sender.
Step 3- To assure that the document was not tampered with during
transmission, the Software now creates a Digest of the received document
and compares it to the Digest of the sent document (extracted in Step 2
from the received signature).
Step 4- The Software will confirm to the receiver that the signature was
authentic and that the integrity of the data in the document was not
compromised during transmission.
Note: Infomosaic Digital Signature Software has the (user
selected) option to check the validity of a Certificate by querying the
Certificate Revocation List of the Certificate Authority. Digital
